Favorite Bible Verse: Romans 8:38-39
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither the height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Remember When?

"This little light of mine"…. to hear and see Eric Shaw sing is to echo those very words with his exuberant joy and obvious belief in our Lord Jesus Christ. He’s got something to sing about and he’s "gonna let it shine"!

Eric was born in 1956 in Clarksdale, Mississippi. His mother, Nanette Shaw, was a voice major in college and taught elementary school music for over 30 years. Dad, Sherard, played football in college so Eric and his brother, Sherard Jr., were raised singing and playing every sport that they could. Football was fun but singing made it’s lasting impression.

When Eric was just nine years old, he became a Christian and was baptized at the Clarksdale Baptist Church. It was at this same church that Eric had his first organized singing experience in a group, comprised of members of the youth choir, known as the "Happy Side Singers". He continued singing throughout high school and then Sang with the "Mississippi Delta Trojanairs" (T.J.’s) and the BSU group "New Jerusalem Railroad" while attending Mississippi Delta Junior College.

While attending Mississippi (Baptist) College in Clinton, Mississippi Eric would share his time between playing baseball and singing with the Christian public relations group called "Harvest". The summer months of college, would afford him the opportunity to be part of a beach ministry that performed musicals on the beaches of Panama City, Florida each night.

On to Cullman, Alabama where in 1978, after graduating from college, Eric went to work with Infolab, Inc. of which he is still employed today. October 1979 brought a union of another kind. Eric met and married his wonderful wife, Vicki. Since that time God has blessed them with two special sons, Eric Jr. and Brett then would later (2003) add a lovely daughter in law, Lori (wife of Eric Jr.).

Between 1981 and 2002 while living in the Chattanooga (Tennessee) area, Eric would have the opportunity to serve the First Baptist Church of Ft. Oglethorpe, South Rossville Baptist Church and Ooltewah Baptist Church, (Ooltewah, Tennessee). He served as interim Music Director (1984 & 2001)) and part-time Director of Youth and Youth Music (1985-89).

The early 90’s were enjoyed by being part of an a cappella quintet called "One Voice" along with his wife Vicki, making it an especially treasured time. One of our most memorable occasions was having the opportunity to sing the Star Spangled Banner at their oldest son’s high school graduation ceremony. What a joy!

In 2001, performing for senior citizens groups throughout the Chattanooga area, Eric was part of a most enjoyable group of four men, formed by Carl Morgan, and accompanied by his wife, Evelyn. Known for singing old country and western music, they jokingly referred to themselves as "Carl Morgan and the Relatives of the Sons of the Pioneers".

In 2002, curious what God had in store for Eric and his family, Indianapolis, Indiana became home through another move with his long time employer (Infolab). After searching for a Southern Baptist church, they found Northside Baptist Church…on the Internet of all places!

Joining Northside has brought wonderful Christian fellowship to Eric and his family. Through that fellowship, Eric joined Ray and Janet Seaman and Tommy Linder (formerly "The Trio") to form "His Voice Through Us". A God loving and message-carrying quartet.

"His Voice Through Us" has been honored to carry God’s word in song before many area churches and revivals, The State Convention, The Evangelism Conference and many other special venues,

Who knows what plans God has for Eric next?

Eric’s prayer is simple, that "His Voice" would continue to sing God’s praises and of His promises ultimately touching the hearts of others and leading them to Christ.
